2017 Dale Orem
Dale was raised on a farm in Carroll County. He is the oldest of five children born to Kenneth (Hall of Fame Class of 2003) and Joyce Orem. After graduating from Carroll High School in 1975, he went on to receive his B.S. in Ag Economics from Purdue University in 1978. While at Purdue he was a member of FarmHouse Fraternity and was on the Livestock and Meats Judging Teams.
Dale married Sarah Oyler in 1986. They have 3 children, Jodi Fisher (Kendall), John Filbrun (Autumn) and Jared Filbrun (Mary); and 6 grandchildren, Shelbi, Sidney, Bayleigh, Trey, Grace and Mamie.
Dale worked at the Co-Op in Flora for 34 years, a majority of the time spent as branch manager of the feed and grain division. In 2015 he took a job at Hog Slat where his primary responsibility is purchasing feed ingredients.
Dale is currently involved in the cattle operation on the family farm. He is an active member of Flora First Christian Church, where he currently serves on the Board of Directors, as a Deacon, and on the Christian Education Committee. Dale’s hobbies include keeping up with the grandkid’s activities!
