2014 Rhonda Hicks
Rhonda Hicks resides in Monroe Township, coming from Blairsburg, Iowa, to Carroll County in 1986. Rhonda grew up on a dairy farm with two older brothers and a younger sister. After graduating from Northeast Hamilton High School, she married Mike Hicks of Flora. They have two adult children, Carissa Tauber (husband Tony) of Chesterton, Indiana, and Owen Hicks of Flora. They are also blessed with a grandson, Layton Tauber.
Hicks is employed by Carroll County at the Soil and Water Conservation District as the Administrative Assistant in charge of office operations and conservation education efforts. In her 26 year tenure, she facilitated or has been a part of several conservation education field days/events for Carroll County youth including: Earth Fair, Peterson Pond Day, Windowsill Gardens, 4-H Conservation Day Camp, Soils Judging Contest, and Speech Contest. The largest of these events is by far, Carroll County AG DAY which annually hosts over 200 students and utilizes approximately 90 volunteers. She has also been active over the past 15 years in the 4-H program with natural resource conservation projects and the Carroll County Ag Association/Junior Leader food stand.
Rhonda also assists in adult conservation programming efforts in the county with projects such as: Pasture Walks, Pond Field Days, Indiana Master Naturalist, Soils Health Workshops, and administering grants like the Indiana Department of Environmental Management 319 Grant for Deer Creek/Sugar Creek Watershed (covering 5 counties).
Rhonda Hicks is an active member of the Flora First Christian church. She enjoys crafts, baking, NASCAR and spending time with her husband, children and grandchild.
