2013 Edging, Monty
Monty L. Edging, born in 1964 in Carroll County, is the youngest child of B. Lowell and Carolyn J. Edging with his only sibling being Heidi Reef. He grew up in Camden, IN, attended Camden Elementary School and graduated from Delphi Community High School in 1982.
Living in the town of Camden did not afford him the opportunity to experience farm life until about the age of 10. It was at about that time that his Uncle, John Trapp, offered the opportunity to get involved in 4-H showing animals. The trade-off was that he was to become involved in the day to day duties at their farming operation which included row crops, beef cattle and swine. It was there that he gained his agriculture experience. The next several years of summers, school breaks and any other available time was spent on John Trapp’s Farm learning not only about farm life, but also life skills in general.
Monty attended Purdue University and graduated with a B.S. in Agriculture Economics in 1987. Following graduation he accepted a job with Farm Credit Services and spent 3 months in an intensive training program at the company headquarters in Louisville, Ky. In the fall of 1987 he joined Salin Bank in Camden and later transferred in 1995 to Bright National Bank in Flora. In early 2001, he joined Lafayette Bank and Trust Company and remains there today as Senior Vice President and Manager of Commercial Banking. He has served Carroll County as well as areas throughout central Indiana for the last 25 years.
Monty married Diane VanSickle in August 1987. They have 2 children: Karli 18, a senior, and Colin 14, a freshman both at Delphi Community High School. Diane has been employed at Delphi Community School Corporation as an elementary educator for the last 25 years.
Monty has been involved in various organizations during his professional years including: Carroll County Redevelopment Commission, Indiana Bankers Association Ag Committee Board Member, Carroll County Extension Board, Carroll County Community Foundation Board Member and Scholarship Committee Member for many years, Purdue Club of Carroll County Board Member, Flora Community Club Board Member, Dollars for Scholars, Camden Lions Club, Sons of American Legion, Carroll County Country Club Board Member and Junior Achievement.
Monty enjoys woodworking, boating, snow skiing, Purdue athletics, spending time with his family, and continuing to provide financial solutions to the many long term relationships that have been developed over the years.
