Gary Parrett
Gary Parrett was born on May 5, 1955 to Carl and Julia
Parrett. He has one sister, Sherry Hoffman. Gary attended and
graduated from Carroll High School in 1973. During his high school
days he worked at Stephan’s IGA in Flora. Following graduation he
went to work for Dimitt and Son for 5 years and then he spent the
next 8 years working for the Indiana State Board of Health as a
Meat Inspector. During that time he also owned a small meat market
in Flora known as Country Fresh Meats. In 1988 Gary purchased his
present location from Bob Ritchey and it became known as Parrett’s
Meat Processing.

Gary and Giselle Hess were married in 1977. Giselle is a
teacher at Carroll Elementary. They have 2 children: Zack, 20, a
student at Butler University, and Alix, 12, at student at Carroll.
Gary is a fast paced individual that is very community
minded. He is a three term president of the Flora Lions Club, has
been a board member of the Carroll County Exhibit Association, the
Carroll County Extension Board, the Carroll County Pork Producers,
and the Flora Little League. He is a member of the Indiana Meat
Packers Association and served as their president in 2000. In
addition, he received their Accomplishment Award in 1997. Gary
took his talents oversees in 1995 to help other meat processing
plants to learn the trade.

Gary started a catering business and that venture has sky
rocketed as his company does catering literally allover central
and northern Indiana. Parrett’s is a name that is synonymous with
excellence in the catering business.

Gary is a huge supporter of 4-H. He is always one of the top
buyers at the annual 4-H Livestock Auction and he sponsors several
other awards for the livestock members. Gary has opened his
business for several tours of foreign visitors as well as our
local Junior Leaders.

Gary is a member of the Bringhurst United Methodist Church.
