2000 Bill Pearson

BILL PEARSON

Bill Pearson was born in 1943 to Robert and Ethel Pearson. His dad had started the propane gas and appliance business, and Bill worked there during his early years. A 1962 graduate of Delphi High School, Bill served his active military duty at Fort Dix, New Jersey and then received training in heavy equipment operation. The family farm, almost lost during the depression, was saved by his parents and became Bill’s home when he and the former Carolyn White were married in 1964.

Bill farmed that acreage with his father-in-law, James White, for eight years before purchasing 1/3 interest in Jackson-Lee, Inc. While living on the farm, their two sons, Patrick and Jason, were born. Also, Bill served as 4-H leader then, realizing importance of encouraging youth to agriculture.

After joining the John Deere firm in 1972 with Pete Jackson and Bill Lee, Bill moved the family back to Delphi to the home where he was born and raised. The two partners were bought out over the years and Bill became the sole owner in 1989. A second dealership in Frankfort was purchased which is managed by their son, Jason, a very valuable part of the business.

Through Bill’s membership in Rotary International, the family has been host to exchange students as well as sending their son to Australia for a year in the youth exchange. Bill and Carolyn also opened their home to some Russian farmers that were visiting our county a few years back.

As a member of Mid-American Implement Dealers Association, Bill has seen the importance of making his business a goods and service facility that is mutually beneficial He has supported agriculture through 4-H and FFA in the schools, loaning equipment and labor as needed.
