Bill Duff

Bill Duff was born in 1930 and has been a lifelong resident of Carroll County. He attended and graduated from Delphi High School in 1949. Bill began farming while in High School and after graduation he continued farming and also attended some classes at Purdue University.

Bill married Wanda Hughes on July 1, 1951. They had four sons, Doug, Randy, Terry, and Ed. Ed was killed in a farm accident in 1986 and the other three boys still live in the Delphi area. Bill and Wanda have 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, all of which are very dear to them.

While in school, Bill was very active in 4-H and FFA. He served as an officer and participated in several judging contests and state FFA contests. Bill still assists the local FFA by assisting with their test plots and other activities.

Bill has always been very active in community service. He was a 4-H leader for several years and was the chairman for the beef committee at county fair. Bill served as chairman of the 4-H building committee when they decided they needed a facility at the fairgrounds. Bill served on the Board of Trustees for Delphi Community High School for 16 years, being president for many of those years.

Bill served the county as a Carroll County Commissioner for 12 years, again serving as the chairman for a majority of those years. He was the chairman of the Organized Board of the Solid Waste District, which include Carroll and the surrounding counties. Bill served Master of the Tipwa Grange and also served as a state Grange Deputy. Bill was active as a Wabash Valley Director for 14 years.

Bill is a member of the Delphi United Methodist Church and he has served his church in many capacities including Layleader, Trustee Chairman, Finance Chairman, Chairman of the Remodeling Committee, etc.

Bill is a member of the IOOF lodge, Farm Bureau, Carroll County Pork Producers, John Purdue Club, and the Purdue Club of Carroll County.

Bill has been known to serve Meals-on Wheels as well as other worthwhile projects in the community.

Bill has had to curtail some of his activities this past year, but he has always been one to serve his fellow man. Bill enjoys working with his friends in Carroll and thanks the Lord for being privileged to do so.
