JOHN KLEPINGER

John F. Klepinger was born in White County in 1912. He graduated from Brookston High School in 1930 and from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Banking and Finance in 1934. After working on the family farm for a couple of years he began work at the Union State Bank in Delphi in 1936. In 1938 the bank was reorganized and became Union Bank & Trust. John retired from the bank in 1989 at which time it became INB.

John was married to Wanda North on 6/19/38 and she passed away on 8/19/95.

They both desired to live in a rural community and devote their lives to God and helping people. John achieved this by working 53 years with the same bank by counseling and helping many people with their financial and personal concerns.

They had 2 sons; Richard, who lives in Elkhart, Indiana and Jack, who lives in Ogden, Utah and Phoenix, Arizona. He also has 2 grandsons; Scott in Elkart and Nicholas in Utah.

John is very community minded and has been active for 57 years with the First Presbyterian Church in Delphi, serving in several different capacities. He has been Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge in Brookston and High Priest of Delphi Chapter of Royal Arch Masons. He is a 50 year member of both. He was an organizer of the united Fund in Carroll County and has served as its treasurer most of those years. In addition he has been active with the Carroll County Mental Health Association and the Trailblazer Society of Camp Tecumseh.

John was one of Camp Tecumseh’s original campers in 1924. John was also active in Boy Scouts and is presently serving on the Financial Advisory Committee of the Wabash and Erie Canal Association. John was involved with the recent Delphi strategic Planning. He is a past president and a Paul Harris Fellow of the Delphi Rotary Club. In 1984 he received the Samuel Milroy Award in recognition of entrepreneurial or philanthropic contributions to the City of Delphi. He recently received the Sagamore of the Wabash from Governor Evan Bayh.

For all of John’s accomplishments he gives credit to the wonderful people. He has been privileged to work with and for, the great people in our community, his family, and to his Lord and Savior.
