2018 Michelle Cox

Michelle Cox, following her love for agriculture and helping others, has served the community in many areas of agriculture and lending. She accepted a position as Vice President of Ag & Commercial Lending at First Farmers Bank & Trust in June 2015 and currently serves clients in Carroll, Cass, Howard, Clinton, and Tippecanoe, as well as many counties throughout central Indiana. She served as Senior Vice President at Salin Bank in Flora for 20 years after beginning her career as Ag Lender for Farm Credit in Kokomo from 1991-1995. Michelle grew up helping her dad and grandpa on their farms, cleaning up equipment, mowing, moving and feeding hogs, and shoveling manure. She worked for Pioneer Hi-Bred during college, working in the office, seed germ department, scales for wheat harvest, and even sorting corn during fall harvest. Michelle spent her early married years helping her husband at a swine research farm on weekends, spending hours carrying feed, power washing, and moving baby pigs for vaccinating. She owns and manages HCH Farms, a small family land owning entity, with her sisters. As a member of the Carroll County Ag Association, she volunteers at Earth Day, serves on the audit committee, and participates in the noon meal during the 4-H Fair.

Cox is an active member of the Flora United Methodist Church, currently serving on the finance committee, counting committee, Christmas baskets, and in the nursery. She is a board member for the Carroll County Community Foundation, serving on the scholarship committee, grants committee, and Promise 529 committee. She serves as current Secretary of the Carroll County Redevelopment Commission. She is active in Flora Rotary, current Secretary and past President, and the Flora Community Club, as past Treasurer, current Christmas Parade Co-Chair, and Fair Merchants and Events co-chair for the Carroll County 4-H fair. Michelle has been involved in various organizations during her professional years including: FFA judging, Carroll FFA Alumni Board, Carroll County Extension Board, Junior Achievement Board and teacher, Cass County Pork Producers, Flora Youth Baseball, Flora Softball coach, Carroll Athletic Boosters, Carroll County Religious Ed fundraising and building committee, Indiana Titans and Indiana Flyers travel baseball teams, numerous Carroll school committees, grant writing for Carroll Elementary and Flora Park, Carroll County YMCA, and Carroll County Chamber. She also completed Carroll County Focus on the Future and taught Carroll County Leadership community involvement.

Cox graduated from Carroll Junior-Senior High School and Purdue University. She resides in Flora with Eric, her husband of 26 years, daughter Kaylyn, a sophomore at Purdue, son Korbin, a junior at Carroll, and is expecting a grandson, Hudson. Michelle loves being with her family, following her children, and nieces and nephews’ sporting activities, including baseball, soccer, and basketball, working and being outside, and striving to serve her clients and community with excellent service.
