Manure application in winter brings increased risk of runoff reaching surface or groundwater resources. Practical and science based options exist for managing and reducing the risk for livestock producers who have little or no manure storage, or for situations where a late fall or early freeze limit manure application options. This webinar’s presenters will speak from personal experience discussing the research that documents the ways to reduce risk, how one county has decreased runoff and groundwater contamination by implementing winter manure spreading plans, and a professional manure applicator’s practical perspective on options for livestock producers.
