Carroll County Zoning Update V 2.0 – Hearing February 25

The Area Plan Commission made their final changes to the proposed Carroll County Zoning ordinance at their meeting on November 26.  They will be ready to formally consider and make a recommendation to the Carroll County Commissioners at their February 25 meeting and public hearing at 7:00 pm at the Carroll County Courthouse, Circuit Courtroom (Third Floor).

The proposed Zoning Ordinance is complete update to the original 1972 Zoning Ordinance that saw few changes over the past 40 years.  It streamlines the language of the Ordinance, adds a Table of Uses for easy reference, and adds a Rural Residential district to encourage residential development away from prime farmland and to protect rural residential homes from intensive agriculture uses.

Farmers are encouraged to attend this hearing to hear information and share comments about the proposed zoning ordinance.  Because the Rural Residential District is a new element to the Zoning Ordinance, and because of general misinformation about agriculture and the impact on residential development, it is important that agriculture interests are represented at this meeting.

The entire proposed Ordinance, plus the Table of Uses, Airport Overlay Maps and Revised Zoning Map is available on the Carroll County Zoning website (click for link).  The document can be downloaded and printed from your home computer, or you can purchase a copy from Q Graphics in Delphi for less than $30.
