Farm Land Lease Seminar – December 5 – Danville
Many landowners and farmers struggle each year to find what is fair in land leases. Questions like- What is a fair rent? Should we cash rent or rent on the shares? Why did my neighbor get more than I did? How does a flex lease work? Who pays for what expense? Do I need a written lease or is a handshake good enough?
This seminar will help answer these questions and attendees will learn about the many aspects that landowners and tenants need to consider when leasing land.
This seminar will cover:
- Trends in land leases
- Communication for optimum landowner- tenant relationships
- Determining your land’s cash rent value
- Types of farmland leases – cash, share, flex leases
- Legal aspects of a good lease
- Landowner-tenant expectations
Presenters are: Paul Marcellino from Howard County Extension Office, Tamara Ogle from Purdue University, and Miriam Robeson, Carroll County Attorney.
The Danville Program is the last presentation of this series.
