The Council felt that they had to consider LOIT (Local Option Income Tax) options to help bring the county budget back in line, and they did not want to have the total county rate (LOIT and EDIT) exceed 2%. The current county rate (2008) is 1.1% If the Council passes a LOIT increase, you will probably see (approximately) 1.95% as the county tax for 2009. The Carroll County Commissioners voted to approve the 2008 EDIT budget presented by the EDC and the Carroll County Chamber.
